A1 Flues appoints top UK amateur golfer

A1 Flues has appointed a County Durham man – who recently won the amateur golfing world’s equivalent of the Ryder Cup – as its new sales representative for the North East.

Mark Bonser was part of the victorious team from Consett & District Golf Club that won The Mail on Sunday Classic last November and joins A1 to cover the East side of the country from Sheffield to Newcastle, with a brief to a further bolster the company’s ability to build and cement relationships with consultants and contractors at a local level.

He said: “I approached A1 Flues about joining the team and representing them in the North East because I can see the scale of the opportunity for the company with all the projects in my area,” said Mark.

“The company has a great track record in delivering flue and chimney systems, from the straightforward ones for the likes of hotels such as Premier Inns to the most-challenging, high-profile ones, like the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station, which is currently under construction.”

Director John Hamnett said Mark’s appointment is another boost for the company after recently reporting a £1m turnover boost for the second half of 2016 in the wake of the UK’s decision to leave the European Union.

“Our business is feeling the benefits of the Brexit boost, and we’re keen to take advantage of what is still a buoyant commercial construction sector in the UK,” he said.

“There are still a lot of projects out there for hospitals, schools, offices, hotels and public buildings, and they all need the specialist flue and chimney systems required for heating and hot water systems.”

Mark’s appointment takes the tally of A1 Flues’ field sales team to 13 across the UK and Ireland.
