A1 donates bins to local council

The Mayor of Ollerton and Boughton was on hand to take delivery of six new bins that have been made and donated to the town by A1 Flue Systems.

Cllr Irene Miller visited us and had a tour of the factory and saw at first hand where the new bins were made.

The distinctive blue bins will be installed along Forest Road in the town centre and they can’t come a moment too soon, according to Cllr Miller.

“Like lots of other local authorities, Ollerton and Boughton Town Council is continually challenged on a number of fronts. So when a local company kindly offers to donate useful items such as bins, they are gratefully received,” said Cllr Miller.

“They may only be bins but they mean the world to me because they’re something we wouldn’t have otherwise had, and they’ll make a big difference.

“Anything the Town Council can do to keep litter to a minimum is vitally important, and the new bins are an important contribution to that. On behalf of local traders and residents, I would like to thank A1 for its kind and generous donation.”

The Town Clerk, Karen Wakefield, took the opportunity to thank A1 for their continued support in transporting market stalls for the annual Christmas Lights Switch On event, which it has done for more than 20 years.

The visit was also a chance for Cllr Miller to meet our founder Colin Moir – who went to school with the mayor.

“We see ourselves very much as part of the local community, and we wanted to do our bit to help. So, turning our hand to making bins was easy,” said Colin.

“As well as presenting the mayor with the bins, it was a great opportunity to show her around our facilities, which are working at full capacity manufacturing varying sizes of flue systems that will be shipped the following day to construction projects right across the UK and beyond.”
