A1 Flues
A1 Flues

A1 on BBC Breakfast News

Yet another crew from the BBC has been at A1 to film us manufacturing commercial flue systems and to interview our boss, TJ Moir.

This time, a news crew came all the way from the BBC’s new flagship HQ in Salford as part of filming for a pre-recorded story for BBC Breakfast.

The results from RBS’s Regional Growth Tracker were the lead business story, with encouraging figures suggesting that, outside of London, the East Midlands was the best-performing English region in the first half of 2014. This comes at a time when the UK is continuing to show strong signs of growth following the economic downturn.

They chose to film at A1 as they wanted a great case study of an East Midlands company on the up, and we fitted the bill perfectly.

Camera crews love coming to A1’s factory because there’s always lots going on, and camera operators get lots of close-ups of stainless steel being cut, formed and assembled into sections of flues and chimneys.

As well as getting lots of film of flues being made, they interviewed TJ. She talked about how A1’s order book continues to buck the construction industry trend, with a 30% increase in the last quarter as a result of securing orders for larger projects.

She also talked about how important it is for businesses like A1 to attract the right staff, ensure they receive ongoing training and develop the niche industry skills required for growth.

Never one to miss a trick, TJ also mentioned the support provided by Manufacturing Advisory Service and Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce.
