Ice-cool flue specialists A1 Bridge Flue Systems recently performed a real feat of engineering at the Odyssey Millennium Project in Belfast - now home to the Belfast Giants ice hockey team.
The installation required to serve the landmark project included a 30 metre high mast but access space was minimal.

Mike Clare of A1 Bridge Flue Systems commented: “The project was extremely challenging because of the space limitations. This meant our team had to prefix the majority of the flue system to the mast so that it could be lifted into position by the crane in a single lift. The remaining flue components were installed from a cherry picker. Special bracketing was also provided for the separate flue dilution system to avoid clashes with existing pipework and cable.

The Odyssey consists of a sports arena, ice rink, conference centre, science museum and multiplex cinema.

A1 Bridge Flue Systems manufactured and installed boiler flues on the 30m mast, a dilution air supply to the air conditioning plant and a generator exhaust system.

HG1V twin wall stainless steel flues were used for the boilers, with the Deltavent system used for the generator exhausts.
